I’m a Special Education Teacher, I teach 7th-8th grade students with special needs, which means I have a bunch of kiddos who LOVE Halloween. The last week of October is always a crazy week, but to add to the mayhem, I decided to let my students see what happens when you let chickens & ducks do the carving. They LOVED it, and so did I.
When I fist told the kids what I had planned, they thought I was kidding, just a bunch of naysayers these kids of mine. I showed them a couple of YouTube clips to which they insisted just had to be an AI fake. Lol “Okay, I’ll just have to prove it to you then.” I said.
I had them design “Jack’s” face and then had them help me peel just the skin layer off of where they drew the face. Then I brought it home, layed it on it’s back side before a very enthusiastic flock.
I gave the birds the whole next day to work on it,and when I got home from work that day, it was complete! I had not bothered to clean it out before we started, thinking the seeds and strings on the inside would be very motivating to my flock and turns out, I was not wrong. When my class came in that next morning and I had the pumpkin displayed directly inside the classroom door, my students lost their minds! Lol shrieking ensued. They were shocked, but a couple of them still couldn’t quite believe it. Luckily, I had video evidence to prove it. Immediately after seeing hard evidence, one of my kids proclaimed, “We should name him Mr. Flock!”….my response, “ummmm, how about Mr. Flockington instead?” Hahaha. Best classroom Jack-o lantern ever!
Happy Halloween 🎃
